Springfield Conservation Nature Center
Nestled on the south side of Springfield, "The Nature Center" covers 80 acres. While walking down one of their many trails, you could see some deer, squirrels, muskrats, raccoons, butterflies, and maybe spot a mink. Of course we can't leave out the snakes, bugs, or many varieties of birds. The Nature Center also has an indoor wildlife viewing area, an auditorium where they routinely show short nature films, a hands-on play area for children featuring wildlife puppets, and several nature exhibits.

Located at 4600 S. Chrisman Avenue, Springfield, Mo. The Springfield Conservation Nature Center is operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation and is open Tuesday - Sunday, year- round. Spring & Summer Hours: 8 am - 8 pm. Fall & Winter Hours: 8 am - 6 pm. Building closes at 6 pm.

Fellows Lake and Lake Springfield Park
Fellows Lake covers 800 acres, but has 712 acres surrounding it available for recreation. No swimming, but plenty of fishing , boating, wind surfing and water - skiing . There is a marina available, boat rentals, a concession stand and 2 pavilions. Fellows Lakes is 2 miles N. of Springfield , take Farm Road 197 to Farm Road 66. Lake Springfield Park covers 1206 acres, 578 acres for recreational use, 318 acres of water with over 12 miles of shoreline. It is handicap accessible, and includes nature trails, picnic sites & 4 pavilions. Again, no swimming allowed, but boating permits are available. Lake Springfield is located off Kissick Road.
